hi ash, im a big smooth skin fan, excellent for boat fishing as you dont get as cold while on the boat...got to be careful with them thou, as they are easy to rip/tear (got a few repair jobs on mine!)...i find 2 years is about the life on them thou

Thanks for the info, i will take it onboard . i have got myself a 5mm elios mtm.

I managed to put a hole in my Elios MTM nylon after about 4 uses - I'd be rubbish with a smooth skin!!

When the suit arrived there were some smooth neoprene offcuts padding out the box, after poking at it for a good while I came to the conclusion that the stuff is pretty delicate!!!

Yeah , but you'd poke a hole in a suit of armour , big muscle-bound oaf that you are .

Lol - I'm actually rather small!

Any idea how to fix a hole in a suit? I'm sure Google will tell me but if anyone's got any tips, they'd be appreciated!

I had a large tear in my elios meshskin a few months ago. Tear went all the way across the stomach/chest area. Wrote an email to elios and got a reply with instructions that went something like this:

1. Wash the surfaces to be glued with ethanol, and let dry.

2. Apply first layer of neoprene glue to tear surfaces. Keep the surfaces apart and wait two hours.

3. Apply second layer of neoprene glue to surfaces and wait 5 min before pressing the edges together. They should stick together instantly, so take care and do it properly the first time... Wait for about 24 hours before putting on the suit.

I also applied some glue to the areas next to the tear to strengthen the glued area. Elios recommended patching the glued area with 3mm neoprene if possible. My suit is 7 mm thick so I figured it was thick enough. No problems so far, have been out a few times since then.

Thanks buddy! Really apreciate that!

The hole in mine is really tiny, about 4mm across (although it obviously stretches when I put the suit on - it's perfectly round with smooth sides so I can only guess that it's either a manufacturing floor or I've poked a hole with my spear tip or something!

Will buy some nepprene glue!

Always happy to help when I can!
When the hole is as small as you mention I don't think all the three steps are required. It's probably a good idea to clean the torn edges with alcohol if you use an oil based wetsuit lubricant, if you use shower gel or equivalent I think a rince in luke warm water will do fine. Once the hole is clean I think you should be able to fix it easily with one layer of glue. Wait a few minutes for the glue to cure before pressing the sides together, and it should fix the hole nicely
