Wanna see how is it a training in a lake?

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
awesome dude that darkness is pretty intense and has kinda put me of lake training till i can get a decent light haha

The light helps in case you have an emergency, by the way i've even putted a starlight on the bottom plate and it helps you to find it. Obviusly you can't go withouth a counterballast system, cuz the safety can meet me only near 14/15 mt deep.

Awesome!

The ascent is like a re-birth! LOL
Do you descend eyes closed?

What is the surface temp, vs the thermoclines and bottom temp?

Whenever I've seen poor lake vis like that, the thermoclines have been very early and abrupt, as so little sunlight penetrates.

Oh, and while the shallower (warmer) lakes here in Canada can resemble this... The deeper Great Lakes tend to be much clearer.

We often get 10-12m in Lake Ontario (and can be more) and 15-20 in Lake Huron / Georgian Bay.

The invasive Zebra mussel infestation have helped filter the water significantly, leading to much better vis.

I have yet to dive deep in such dark water though. As you demonstrated, additional safety precautions are wise with a counter ballast and lights.

Happy that you've enjoyed the video, i do the whole descent and ascent with eyes closed i open em in 3 moments, at the beginning for checking the distance from the line, than at the bottom when i turn, than when am near the surface, i do this even if i freedive into the sea where i got 40+++ mt of visibility.
Temperature..... ehm let's say it's ok at the surface during summer time it hits even 30° now is about 23°, thermoclie is at 13/15 mt but after 20 mt even if it's summer you got 6°, in winter is the same thing but you got 12/13° at the surface.
In summer time i use a 3 mm wetsuit, in winter 5 or 8 depend. The lake is reallly deep it reach 160/170 mt, but i enter from the shore and it's immediatly 55 mt deep, you can't go deeper cuz there's an area reserved only for those who use kayak.

That is pretty wild! I dove deep into a lake here in North Georgia with a dark green tint and visibility of about 1 foot, though it doesn't compare to your pitch black!

Could you see any light when you were at the bottom? Or was your only safety the dive line?

At the bottom i've a starlight placed on the plate and a little light on my head that actually allow me to see the line and i can do the turn withouth any problem. Consider even that i always get stopped by the ball placed 1.5 mt over the plate so is easy for me to find the way up.
