Dear all,

The Editors at deeperblue would like to thank you all for logging in and checking out the articles and news posted on the network. We hope you continue to find them useful and engaging.

To keep you informed, we have decided to launch a new section, one dedicated completely to marine conservation.

We all love the underwater world, from the deepest blue of the deepest sea to the strange but fascinating creatures that keep the oceans alive, but with an ever-growing number of problems from over fishing to noise pollution, our oceans are in danger of drying up...

But all is not lost and together we can see that many generations to come continue to enjoy the blue of our planet.

We already have a great team of writers working very hard to get this launched, but we would like to offer you the chance to contribute as well.

This can be in any number of ways, whether you'd like to write, feed us leads, use the community as a stage for your research or just voice your opinion. All submissions are welcome, just get in touch.

You can reach me through the forum, via email or on the phone, I am all ears.

Here's to preserving what we all love so deeply.

Regards,

Sean Samuels

Sean, these good people are DOING something very real

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is doing more than any other organization to protect the world's oceans.

If you love the sea, you must take the time to read about all that they are doing and have done to protect the life OUR seas.

Those dedicated people are true heros.

Here is a link to the Captain's log

The link below is very interesting reading.

I want to dispell any reservations that some may have regarding the SSCS. Commercial fishing interests have for years tried to brand the SSCS as an 'eco-terorist' organization. Their record speaks for itself, no one has ever been injured in any of their campaigns.

They were instrumental in removing the drift gillnets from the pacific. A few years later, the albacore returend to the west coast after almost a decade of absense.

They went to the Farroe Islands to protest the slaughter of porpoise and pilot whales, a wicked festival called the 'grind.'

One of their ships has been commissioned by the government of Ecuador to protect the Galapagos Islands.

The list goes on and on...
