Somewhere between 3 and 5HP. 2 Stroke? Anything around? I do like the look of the tohatsu 3.5hp.

If you see anything locally (Devon, Cornwall) I appreciate a pm. Cheers!

That was true, once upon a time, oily smoky monsters, and may still be true for some engines. However, many modern two strokes don't pollute significantly more than a 4 stroke. Modern engines are amazingly efficient. You can get in an argument over whether any motor is "clean", but I'm not about to abandon my V8. Its still the smallest engine that will do what I need done.

someone is going to tell me that cows are shitting a hole in the ozone layer next and tell me beef burgers will destroy the planet. :t

Not me mate but I can tell you that a four stroke is a much better buy though!
I dont think anyone even produces small carburettor two strokes anymore?
You might find a Honda second hand & they are only made as a f/s.
I bought a 4hp f/s yam just recently for £175.

Oh ok :) its been many years since I read up about this stuff. I'm glad things have changed.

That's what you get when you've burned out long ago... :/

Hey Pav, I already did, but you got it a littlre mixed up. For cows, its not the ozone layer, its global warming. And its not the beef burgers, its the cow's farts, enough of them and global warming Will destroy the part of the earth we care about.

I wish I knew how to post a smily face.

2 stroke engines are an environmental disaster :(
True but they can be small, simple and cheap, and you can use vegetable oil as the in-fuel lube -- smells like a fish & chip shop:D They accelerate like stink too - at least they usually do in motorbikes - power-curves like a rock face. 4-strokes are usually more civilized but can be pricey to buy.

Foxfish, surely Honda doesn't like 2-strokes? Even their small motor bikes & mopeds had 4-stroke engines. I wouldn't be surprised if their lawn mowers do too.

For cows, its not the ozone layer, its global warming. And its not the beef burgers, its the cow's farts, enough of them and global warming Will destroy the part of the earth we care about...
That's right, they air-conditioned cows no longer use freon:D

What's up Pav, tired of kayaking? It'll keep you strong. No noise or pollution.

Honda only make four stroke motors.
Thought so. Mis-read your original post. Read some blurb on the development of Honda's diesel car engine. They made it sound like they had to force their chief engine designer to do it because he didn't feel it wasn't necessary as they had produced such an economical petrol engine:D (their resultant diesel engine is, of course, even more economical with fuel).
