I am considering a purchase of Water Way Capitan Nemo bi-fins. I need some help regarding their stiffness. At the moment I am using C4 carbon fins, model FALCON 30 (medium). They are great, but too stiff for me. Once I tried FALCON 80, and they were ideal in terms of stiffness. So, I would like to choose fins of a stiffness very close to FALCON 80. Unfortunately I can’t afford C4 at the moment, that is why I want to buy cheaper fiberglass fins.

I guess that in case of Capitan Nemo nr 1 (soft) or nr 2 (medium/soft) would be comparable witch C4 80, but I don't know which of them would be closer. That is why I would like to ask if anybody of users of DeeperBlue forum is able to compare Capitan Nemo nr 1 and/or nr 2 to FALCON 30 and/or FALCON 80.

I can't compare but I use WW Nemo fins #2 stiffness at the moment.

They are very good and not too stiff.

I have heard that the #1 are very very soft.

I don't know how the Omer Rekord 3 compare in terms of stiffness but they might be a good option if you can get them at the right price.

I have heard that fibreglass does not compare to carbon so you might not find what you want with the WW Nemos... not sure - maybe someone else will comment :)

Not too stiff … sounds good, but it may mean something quite different for you and for me. I used to use Gara 2000 LD, which are definitely not too stiff, but they hurt one of my tendons. It is better with C4 / 30 but still I need something softer.
You are right, that fiberglass is not the same that carbon, but now I have no choice. Carbon is too expensive for me.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

I was using Sporasub H Dessault before and the WW are softer (#2's) in my opinion.

I have seen the Omer Ice in the water and they are softer than the WW's ...

THe curve they make when someone is finning is good - I am not sure as to the performance compared to WW/C4 but the material looks good... these could be a good alternativce as they are cheaper than WW's...

Personally I am very happy with the WW's but may look at carbon fins inthe future - would go for C4-25's (meant to be same as C4-80's in terms of stiffness) or the Omer Rekord 3's....

Hope that helps mate :)

I use WW #1 blades and I love them! They're excellent for dynamic, and for CW down to 20m with my 5mm wetsuit, or 30+ in a shorty wetsuit. They are however quite soft. I tend to have tendon trouble in my upper foot/ankle, so for me soft fins are a necessity if I'm going to be doing any surface swimming. For CW I use stiffer fins, but I find I'm in my WW fins 95% of the time.
