Hey guys, I am ready to order a new waterway monofin (Mod 2, medium stiffness). But I've heard that the foot pockets are very unconfortable and tight. For those who have one of this, what shoe size do you wear and what foot size did you buy your mono?

This monofin need to be a compromise for two users. One with a 9.5in (24cm) and another 10.5in (26.6cm).

Many thanks!

don't trust the foot pocket size for nothin', be prepared to pull the straps apart and fit them to yourself. If they are killin' your feet that does you no good.

I still haven't found a good glue for the foot strap yet.

Some mates and i got 3 monos and 1 blade late last year. Our shoe sizes vary fome 9.5-10.5 and we all went for the largest footpocket each. They are quite tight i can wear mine for 10-15 mins max. :vangry Remember though that these are performance fins so to get the most from the blade you need it to be tight. I do use some soap to help slide into it which help alot. If you are after a recreational mono id go for some omer footpockets which you would be able to wear all day. Hope this helps

I see that waterway has come out with a new mono using their "Nemo" foot pockets. I didn't see a price, but it might be something to look into.

Thanks for the input everyone

I'll check out the new ones with Nemo pockets as soon as the website is back up online :duh

Watts, so all you guys got the largest foot pocket (330mm) for feet ranging from 9.5-10.5? Did I get that right?

Yeh pretty sure we did and we got the medium stiffness footpocket. With the blades we went for the LD/MD which seems quite good for a nooby monofinner like myself in both dynamic and constant. :wave

Yeah my foot is probably about 1-2 shoe sizes smaller than Watts' and I can keep my mono on for about 15-20 minutes. Mind you, that will extend the more I wear it. The trick is to lube your foot enough not only so it gets in the pocket but can wiggle around to find the most comfortable position.

In a training scenario I can keep it on for 10x50m on a 2 min cycle but not much more than that. If you are going for a max you only need it on for a couple of minutes, so lube up, chuck it on, do your 200m dynamic, take it off, go have a beer

Cheers,
Ben
