Hexoskin: wearable body metrics | Indiegogo

The hexoskin looks very interesting and at first I was thinking it would only suffice for dry land training but the tech specs suggest it's good for swimming with too.....

Could be one of the first smart technologies which could really boost training with the amount of information you can gain from it before, during and after a dive.

Hi MartinTee,

I'm one of the software developer at Hexoskin, and I'm wondering what kind of training do you do before and after diving? Is it land or underwater training?

Thanks!

Note: I'm not a diver!

Hi Blak Ninja,

I'm sure freedivers would love to find out the following data combination:

- Time
- Depth
- HR
- SaO2
- lung compression / volume / rate.
- temperature.
- diaphragm contractions

I understand that making your device 150m Waterproof will be very challenging, (maybe an external case?), but it surely will open up a wealth of information that will help to discover what is going on in our bodies underwater, static, dynamic, depth.

Another big challenge is recording the low HR freedivers reach. I've reached values below 20 BPM. The strap-wrist monitor I whore showed 00 - flatlining ;) - but a medical student measured my neck artery and calculated a HR of just 17 BPM... other freedivers have reached even lower HR's during deep dives.
I've worked with Gallileo - Uwatech - Scubapro, on their latest divecomputer that takes HR into account to estimate diver workload in order to calculate nitrogen saturation and the decompression advice. (More work = more decompression time) Thanks to my testing, low HR and dramatic HR changes they needed to adjust the filtering and range of their computers.

Finally I need to say that I'm a poor guy and do not have the money to buy your fancy equipment these days, so I suggest you asking the new World Record holder (145m!) in the Variable Weight freediving catagory, William Winram to test your device. Another Canadian that come to my mind, Eric Fattah (developer of the revolutionary F1 dive-computer).

If you have questions, feel free to ask, Most freedivers are very generous and willing to help, though they may not be financially rich. We value and invest heavy in cool and deep freedive experiences...

Love, Courage and Water,

Kars
