week distance shot!

i have problem with distance of shot? i am using my home made speargun with 80cm. i have attached 2 band? please tell me 2 band length must be same? or what should i have to do for long shot?
 
For this we really need some more information. You made the gun yourself; 80cm, what do you mean with this. The total length from handle to tip, or like the euro-guns the barrel length? Same for the rubbers. What kind of rubbers. 12mm, 16mm, office bands? What kind of spear...?

And of course: what exactly do you consider a weak distance shot. What is your expectation and what is the actual shot? -In the water, not on land, obviously (don't fire spearguns on land)-.
