After buying a 7 mm wetsuit I need a good way to decrease my buoyancy, but don't want to spend the 70+ dollars on a weight vest and weights, would a normal 30 dollar weight vest meant for running work/ are there any cheaper alternatives

No, a running vest wouldn't be suitable. First and foremost it likely wouldn't have the same safety features as a diving vest. I'd also wager the materials wouldn't hold up well to
water and salt and so on.

Why not just buy a cheap diving belt and weights? Or but second hand?

Someone else may have different advice or a different opinion. Hope I helped!
