I'm kinda on the skinny side and have always found weight belts (webbing or rubber) a pain in the ass. Since I don't have much in the way of hips, my belt tends to slip and spin...frustrating. Anyway, I was thinking of buying a weight vest and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions/advice? I was considering either the widget made by Seasoft: Seasoft Free-diving vest from LeisurePro.com or the Beuchat 7 Kg Harness.

I recommend an elastic rubber belt instead.

You fasten it a bit tight on the hip bone, then it goes nowhere! Also, if you divide your weight ammount in two even sizes and place them on the belt so that they are on each side of your hip, really, directly on the side of the hip bone, it works even better (like, if you use 5kg, place 2.5kg on each hip).

But if you want a vest, i recommend something like the Omer Gilet or similar. It has six individual pockets for the weights, which is a lot more dynamic than the 7kg harness. Omer sells 0.5kg weights for the vest, but I have good experience with regular uncoated 1.0kg weights in the pockets.

How do you ditch a weight vest in the case of an emergency? Stick with the weight belt.
