Hi all,
I'm looking to get a 3mm wetsuit for spearfishing in Croatia.

Choices are :
OMER MIMETIC
PICASSO SUIT MIMETICAL
EFFESUB CAMU MIMETIC
ROFO MIMETICA ROCK

So far PICASSO SUIT MIMETICAL seems to get most votes from folks I speak to.

Thanks for any advice :friday

picasso makes a great suit yeah, but the most important thing is that you are totally comfortable in which ever suit you decide to take. Technically there isnt much difference in the technology used to make the different suits. So to me its a question of fit. Rather than a question of name.

Have you considered a custom suit from Elios? They are about the same price as an off the rack suit from Picasso, OMER, etc, or even less depending on options. Having a suit made specifically for your body is a great feeling - so comfortable and warm. You can get all kinds of camo patterns and various neoprenes. Home

hello!
i've noticed in the spearfishing threads that you plan to dive in croatia in spring and summer. personally i think in that with a 3mm suit you'll freeze your ass off. if you are planning on diving in spring i would suggest you take a 5mm as the waters are still cold till the end of may. well, i'm a "freezy" tipe, i've been using my 6,5mm last year all summer, mostly due to the fact that it's my only suit.
i was hot only in summer when diving in the afternoons.(anyway i prefer diving early mornings-less traffic).
as for the brands i can't really help you, haven't tried much, but i would definitely go for a custom tailored suit.when i was buying mine no standard suit would fit me as i have quite skinny legs.:)
cheers
primoz
p.s.: you can also get a 5mm vest and 3mm pants if you are more "hot blooded".
a lot of people i know use this combination as you dont need to weight youself too much.

I recommend 5mm suit because Adriatic is very cold ( for me ) during the summer you can find 24-25c and
divers usually dive in 5mm suit.
For freediving i use 3mm and i can stay 3-4 ours in the sea.
If you planing to go to island Hvar, i have apartments there so you can contact me.

5mm suit in 25c water, you’ll kill yourself of heat exertion. We use a 5mm open cell suit in 8-12c water if we hit 16 degree water we use 3mm suits anything more than that just dive with a second skin.

Because thermocline, on the surface is 25 c, but when you going deeper then 15 meters is cold, 16-17c.
I dived this weekend, the temp. of the sea is 12c, but i dive in 5mm new suit and can hold on 3h without freezing.
Don't know about you but i em always cold when i dive.

on our atlantic side the water is always about 8-14c wich is cold but more than bearable in a 5mm suit. on the indian side (im from SA as you can tell) the water ranges from 16-24) we dive the indian side with 3mm suits and the atlantic side with 5mm suits. I find that if you have a 5mm in 20 degree water its just that bit too uncomfartable.

BTW id love to have 15/16 degree at 15M lol :D and no i have quite a high tolerance to cold water. I get hot extremely quickly.

I think I'll stick to the 3mm.
Last summer I dived from June till end of September. Temp variation 20-26c.
All I had were socks, gloves and a decathlon tshirt with collar (yes pants too, before you ask :))

I was kinda fine for 3ish hours in the water .

I want to keep the amount of lead weight to a minimum, another reason for going for only 3mm.

Hello Vedrana!

I bought a new 6mm smoothskin open cell benthos wetsuit from Elios Sub.

It is good suit for apearfishing also but a 5mm suit with opencell and some coating on inside will be enough for you in Croatia I think.

With my 5mm smoothskin open cell TOP SUB suit i can get a bit chilled if not moving enough but with my 6mm suit in medium density heiwa with smoothskin gloves and socks is extremely comfortable to wear and keeps me from not freezing at all.

I should come visit you in Croatia sometimes.

/Fredrik.

Its nice to dive in Croatia, clear sea, blue sky ....ha ha sound like advertisment....

If only there were more big fish in the sea, say like of the south coast of England. Then it would be complete paradise.

Still the pretty dalmatican girls make up for it :)

Can't have it all I guess.

I dont care if the dalmatian girls are beautiful if they dont like freediving then there is no point.

If I was ever to find me a gal who was into freediving our song would without a doubt be "Underwater Love" by Faith No More

Underwater Love Looking down into the water
It's hard to make out your face
If our love is drowning, then why
Do I feel so out of place?
Bubbling up to the surface
Are you getting a breath of fresh air?
Forever longing to make you mine
But I can't escape your stare...
Liquid seeps into your lungs
But your eyes look so serene
It's wonderful how the surface ripples
But you're perfect, and I cannot breathe
Forever longing to make you mine
But I can't escape your stare...
Hold me closer, keep me near
My underwater love
Hold me closer, keep me near
I'll never get enough
Touch me from below
I'll never let you go
But I can't escape

All togeter now :)

since im married i guess i have to sit here quietly in the corner

Well, if you are married for 15+ years, then you are happy you can be quiet and alone at least the few minutes you are underwater :D
