Wetsuit Combination Help

This is my first post so be gentle!

Basically I am getting into freediving and should be going to Thailand early next year to do a course. One of the bits of equipment I want to get for myself is a wetsuit. I've been looking around it appears because I'm 6ft2 with a 30" waist and only weigh 65kg I'm not the best fit for off the peg suits. Therefore through this forum I've come across the Oceanos custom suits which get good reviews. I just don't know which combo to get regarding long john and hoods.

My aim is to get a suit that is suitable for the types of climates I am to dive in; Thailand, Red Sea, Caribbean which obviously have a bit of a variation in temp. I get the impression a 3mm full freedive suit will be too warm for Thailand but about right for Egypt?

My thoughts are to get a long john and detachable hood so I can mix and match depending on the water temp; is this a good idea?

I ordered a custom 2-pc, 3mm suit from Aqualandwetsuits.com that's slickskin on one side and lined on the other.

My hope (besides durability and dual-purpose for spearfishing) was to be able to micro-control temperature by mixing / matching inside out or right side in for tips and bottoms for just this type of situation.

Slick-in = more durable and warmer, slick out = less warm and better hydrodynamics.

I'll be in the Keys in a month to test it out.

 
Right I need you guys and girls to sort a debate. I ended up getting the black seal oceanos wetsuit for Christmas and my Dad is convinced the rubber must go on the inside whereas I disagree and say it goes on the outside (although I don't see why it can't be either depending on your preference). Is there a right and wrong way?
