Wetsuit Question

Quick question about freediving/spearfishing two piece wet suits.
For this purpose we will say a two piece, farmer-john style, 5mm wetsuit... So, I get that the thickness of the wetsuit is 5mm, but does that mean that each part of the wetsuit (the top and bottom) are both 5mm thick, so that there are effectively parts of your body, (the abdomen and chest) that have a total of 10mm covering them (the bottom piece with the top piece over it)?? Thanks guys!

Quick question, short answer: yes it is like that (at all suits I know)

Yes, that is correct. We make our suits with the seam in the correct location, so that you can cut the top of the pants off - so you don't have the FJ anymore. The FJ configuration is warmer however it will require more lead ballast and it also makes it impossible for you to relieve yourself without removing the jacket first. Divers who might spend a whole day on a kayak for example, may find this ability very important.
