Looking to buy my first open cell wetsuit and was wondering what thickness to buy 5mm or 7mm?

So I live in south uk so will be looking to spear in Devon, Plymouth and where ever I get told is a great spot. Looking to do it all year round but can't really afford winter and summer suit.

Do yo think ild get to warm in a 7mm in the summer or does it not really matter as you can just flush yourself out a bit? Also as the wetsuit gets older and compresses would I get more use out of a 7mm?
What are some pros and cons of a 5mm and a 7mm?
Cheers.

What's the water temp variance? 7mm open cell seems excessive, but it'd depend on temp

I take it back. I looked it up. Jesus that's cold.

But I'd probably get by with a 5mm, a 7mm would become super heavy at depth. But I'm out of my element. It's far warmer in my locale

".. not many of overhot, but a lot of frozen into the sea..") ,would recommend 7mm wetsuit + 5mm punts( for change)
