What Are The Best Fins For Surface Swimming ?

hi guys ...

i use a pair of "pongee imersion" fins they are very short and very hard and i mostly use them for long surface swims and swimming against strong currents .. and from what i read they are the opposite to what i should be using ( long and soft fins)..

so id really appreciate anyone who could tell what are the best surface fins they have ever used ,and what are the worst to stay away from

* im thinking about the REKORD 3's

any ideas ?
 
oh my friend, you just opened a can of worms , for surface swimming, i think you will like the cressi gara 3000LD, they are specifically designed for surface swimming...word of caution though, if you have slightly wide feet dont get it, it wont be comfortable, my feet are a bit wide so i dont like mine too much...
i think the rekord 3 are more for deep dives if im not mistaken, i dont have experience with it though, but lots of members here seem to love them,.. i have tried the omer ice, which is another good compromise between surface and some depth (it will be very good, to 20m, havent tried it beyond that )

I agree with Marwan, every word he said.
Cressi gara 3000 LD: "LD" means Long Distance.
The Rekord 3 are not bad at surface swimming for being designed for deep dives, but still and again, they're designed for deep dives...
 
I can tell by the question that you have never used C4-80s. I've tried every new fin that I could get my feet into for the last 40 years and two exotic types that you didn't put on your feet. Nothing even comes close, on the surface, after you learn the wide stroke required. Not sure about a very short sprint (current) though.

(btw when I saw the title of the thread and still b4 seeing who posted it, i knew it would be you asking that question )!

The e-black long imersion fins are pretty good... though I never got better fins to compare with... personally, I wanna get hold of one of those omer fins... Check the pegasso (from omer) and it comes with different stiffnesses (soft, medium and hard). The omer ice is nice also, although when i tried it from Sanad, I felt it wasnt that stiff enough for strong propulsions in currents... I guess C4 carbons are also a pretty good choice but dunno how we can get those to Doha !

The two best surface swimming fins I have ever tried are the C4-80's and the OMER Ice fins. Both are soft and they both have an angled blade- which the Cressi fins are lacking. The 80's are about 6" longer than the Ice fins.
