Was wondering if anyone knew the current USA AIDA records or website that shows them. Thanks - Wes

Theo,
You should send Bill Stromberg an email about a certain dynamic record made in Nice.
Apnea mania has to be updated

See you this week end,
Matt

I checked the site, interesting to see the ladies, on average, doing better than the boys!

I wonder what is the age criteria for "senior" athletes in freediving.

These days "seniority" seems to pay off if i look at some of the US records or Natalia, the current world record holder for most of the women disciplines. gives everyone hopes to do better even if not in the mid 20s!

Thanks all for the links,

Kind of surprising the US records are low in some disciplines, maybe I can work on these!!!

Cheers Wes

Hi Wes,
not sure which records you think are "low" but you have to remember most of these records were done in competition, these are results done under pressure and with rules. Most competition results are a lot lower then personal PB's because of this. It's probably closer to what you can do on a bad day if you want to try to compare. It's hard for someone to understand unless you have actually done a competition. Having said that of course there is alway's room for improvement, and people are finding newer and better ways of training these days. If you are keen on competitive freediving then I recommend you find a buddy to train with and perhaps attend a freediving course. If you train hard and smart you will have a good chance to nab a few US records, goodluck !

Cheers,
Wal

Walrus,

Thanks for the feedback, seems spot on. I have never competed in freediving though have done some speed windsurfing competition so I know what you mean about your best day versus the day of the competition, very different in my experience. Also I think its important to think about why you want to compete, for me its because I enjoy training toward a goal and also competing, I think if a person does not enjoy training and competing and is doing competiton "just to win" or "to prove something to someone" then they are often not so happy.

Cheers Wes
