Hi,

Planning on doing some deep dives with a large gun on some mussel beds which I thonk might house some record breakers. What do I do if I catch one, how do I proove it?! This is on the south coast of england.

Cheers,
Aeron

I think you have to take the fish to a professional shop or something that has certified and calibrated scales. You need at least two witnesses to the fish being weighed. You will need to provide pictures of the fish a description of the venue and time of capture, the equipment used as well as proof of calibration on the scales. Also when spearing the fish you must shoot an land the fish by yourself, you can use other people's guns to put in "finishing/kill shots" but you must load the gun, shoot the gun and land the fish in the boat/shore by yourself.

Then it goes to a committee to decide whether it is a new record etc. I think this covers everything.... But never having a record myself I cannot guarantee this is all that is required.

Maybe a search on google will provide better or more accurate information.

Good luck and dive safe

Cheers, I will ensure I bring a camera and my friends out! Ill also check out that association!

Regards,
Aeron
