What I originally posted here wasn't what I was trying to say, and things have moved on, so I'm leaving this instead.

To keep everyone involved in saltFree in the loop ....

The first saltFree year was about laying the foundations, trying out ideas and putting in place the basic structure necessary to make it a leading UK freedive club.
This included:
Writing safety protocol (Sam and me)
Writing courses (Sam)
Liasing with the NDC crew and HSE to satisfy their stringent safety requirements
Investing in safety equipment (everyone who has contributed £5 to scuba safety. This money is left in the pot and re-invested in FHOF systems, bang sticks, floats, etc)
Designing a saltFree logo (Rodin)
Working out the best safety system to ensure and maximize the safety of everyone who dives with us ... that means freedivers and scuba support (Sam, me, Marcus, Lars, Martin and Simon with generous advice from Paul Streeter, Kirk Krack and Rudi of FREE)

The second year (which for Sam and me started as soon as last years season ended), is about building the bricks.
This includes:
Recruiting a dedicated and complete team of scuba safety Angels capable of covering all depths. Fully briefed and ready to go. This has taken many months of searching for suitable divers, a serious amount of emails, open discussion, meetings and presentations as well as training together - right through the winter in 4 degrees C.
Working on sponsorship.
A dedicated pontoon designed with the specific intention of providing more ropes and therefore more variety in the disciplines available and more dives per freediver, a deco trapeze for the safety guys, a platform to store first aid and O2 and kit.
The UK comp which saltFree is hosting ... a serious amount of time and effort on Sam's part to put together what will be a fantastic day of fun and adventure. Much thanks to everyone for their support here including our sponsors, Deeperblue, Howard at Freediver, Jim Standing at Fourth Element and Beaver Sports.

So, now the cement .... everyone who chooses to dive with saltFree. All the above has been for you! It doesn't matter how deep or shallow you want to dive, what type of style or discipline,
whether you want to train, have fun, learn, go for records, enter competitions, socialise or just hang out.
So, let us know what you want and we will do everything we can to make you happy and fulfill your dreams.

Patio heaters and cappacinos on the pontoon, palm trees swaying in the breeze, massuer (?) to rub our tired legs..... Ah what a lovely dream :)

On a serious note, I'm happy with the way things are....Thats not to say I'll change my mind as I gain experience and confidence, but, at the moment, I feel happy diving in our safe, calm, green environment.....

keep up the good work...

Maybe an optional "CW - no fins" round after the Regular CW, This way this very fun and new disapline is promoted. And this way the potential pricewinners and others don't have to choose between the two.

Maybe add a competior's list on you side with the locations/country from where they are. This way it's eazier to find a traffelmate.

Futhermore I want to come, but the funds are really low here :( and -worse- I need a warm suit, my 4.5mm doesn't cut 12deg water! But Miracles are not out of sale yet so maybe!

Kars.

*Nice and complete story about the Dutch RFDM in Beverwijk, but some pictures would make it a bit more imaginative and attractive, I think.*

hi Kars
I sent some photos but they didn't use them for some reason.

There is a page of competitors and where they are from - you can link on it from
www.saltfreeopen.com

A good 4.5ml suit should be ok, maybe put a vest underneath or something.

Hope you can make it - nearest airport is Bristol and KLM fly in quite a lot.

Let me know

Sam
