What creatures of the abyss would you like to bump into underwater?

My list:

1. Sunfish (my avatar shows my fascination with them)
2. Manatees
3. Whales
4. I'd like to dive with dolphins again.

The lesser known Island_Sandicous
A fearful predator known only to a few and seen around some of the coast’s of certain Arab countries :) :)

I should also like to swim with a Basking Shark and as many 10lb Bass as I can.

:inlove Sunfish! There's nothing like them in the whole world.

Mermaid or a school of 18 year old girls in Bikins would be fun.

Big Yellow Fin, Marlin, Wahoo, Big Spanish Macks, Big Dog Tooth Tuna now that would be a blast or anything else that is fun to kill.

Manta Rays are cool to swim with or BatRay she's cool

Crusty.

Dugongs and manatees :D

although so far sharks are my favorite critters to share the water with

I would like to dive with as little as possible ;)
and have many fish around me, of all kinds. Tropical water, clear, colourful reef and someone with me waiting to have a rub-down with suntan lotion under a nice palm.

1) Whales. Humpbacks, blue whales, what have you. AND Narwals. (hard to decide between a Narwal or one of the bigger species)

2) Whaleshark.

3) Any of the fur claded playful marine mamals such as seals and otters.

4) Dolphins, this time properly, I only scuba'ed with them once when i was 12 y/o.

5) Mantas, only dove with a small weary one.

6) Hammerhead shark school, as long as i'm safe. (dove with a small hammerhead once).

7) Any large pelagic specie such as tunas, merlins etc.

8) Galapagos Iguanas (being reptiles I don't expect them to be very cooperative)

9) A girlfriend. (well, I might change proprities for a freediving g/f :))

Tuna, basking shark ( keep getting closer each year ) beluga whale, some sharks might be nice and of course some dolphins have never hung around but have seen them a few times

look at my avatar it is very simple
a killer whale :t
in the amazing mistical west coasts of Canada

Big edible fish (I'm a spearo) is top of the list. Then, you won't believe it, but the most unforgettable, charming thing I've witnessed under water was a couple of bearded fireworms making love (in Lampedusa six years ago). They were really making love, slowly, sweetly, wildly. This is a pic of the creature I'm talking about:

PS- sunfish? in italian we call it moonfish (pesce luna), while for us the sunfish (pesce sole) is the freshwater bluegill.

spaghetti,

"You are soooooo very Italian!"

I think if I let Diane read the above post just before bed, ..........I might get lucky!

Maybe you could please call here on the phone and speak to her slowly and softly in italian for me? When she starts breathing heavy, I'll grab the phone out of her hand, hang it up, and throw her on the bed :chatup .

That one is also called the mola-mola. They are periodically in the Outer Bay Exhibit. They have to be hand-fed, because they can't out-swim the tuna.

Spaghetti, spaghetti.... nice post, fun to read for a frustrated California girl! :D

''WHALE SHARKS''

The single most over rated lump of Brain Dead Fish in the Ocean.

There is nothing more BOORING in the ocean, they just swim slowly along feeding, they dont interact with anything, you could swim up and poke one in the eye and they might blink.

They are like swimming with a empty school bus, sure they are Big but once you get over how big they are then they are just plain Booring.

I swam with quite a few when i was an Dive Instructor in Exmouth, and i could never work out what all the hype was.

The thing i did notice was the people who were not ''Water People'' and only get in it a few time a year were blown away by them, but the punters that were experanced and have seen a few things in the ocean would say,
''Yep they are big and impressive but they dont do much'' and would rather dive with some thing that interacts with them.

So if you get Three wishes dont wish for a Whale Shark you may be dissapiontred.
