I have been swamped at work, finished my scuba instructor certification and did a website for a friend of mine (www.martinstepanek.com <--just a lil plug there). The weather is warming up, but my funds are a little tight with an active first 1/3 of the month.

So what is everyone doing? What dives are coming up? I've been putting together some plans with Wreckrunner for Memorial Day weekend.

We need to have a Save Stody's Brain dive SOON!

Chris,
first my finance is tight too, very tight, and as we say on this side of the world "a common trouble is half a joy".....
second, congrats on the Stepanek website!

RE Stody: Now I have a serious question that hopefully someone will be able to answer. It's about Stody. Is he the same person? Deeperblue Stodelle? DeeperBlue Forums - View Profile: Stodelle
I haven't seen him for a while on board and this thing is such a pain anyway and I agree that Deeperblue folks must help.

Judging by the birth date, and other info, that is indeed the same Stody. He is on HSD's forum a bit, but I know he is fairly busy when he is not struggling through a day. He is 37, 4 months older than me. He has a 10 year old daughter. I can not imagine being in his shoes, or my family in theirs.

I have raised $250 at work, I plan to try two or three more events. Stody is a good guy. I talked with him a bit when I went to a fund raiser for him in March on Oahu. That is part of my financial constriction. I charged part of that trip, but it so so worth it to be there. Any help is better than no help.

ILDiver - The Peek season is upon us (or nearly) you should consider coming up and spearing some fishes. Lake Wingra and Lake Koshkonong are HOT right now and good for Panfish. Get a hold of me if you are planning on coming up.

Been out twice in Madison area lakes with Wopperhead (x2) and Kalin once in the last two weeks. Panfish were still out deep early in the week but will be in the shallows soon. Visibility is pretty good in some of the lakes, but still bad in Waubesa. I finally have a full setup, thanks to Kalin, and will be out much more this year. I did shoot one Bigmouth Buffalo Sucker this week (34 lbs) and a few panfish. Also, don't forget about the fish consumption advisories for WI waters...

Hey guys...4 more days of school left for the central seniors! We would love to come down and shoot some buffs in a madison lake if someone was there to show us where to change into wetsuits, and where the big ones hide. :D

Why don't you guys just change at your cars? I wear Jammers- that way I can change where ever I want.

you shouldn't shoot Buffalo. unless they are some sort of record or you're going to eat them. Common Carp on the other hand- Have at them.

Well Tass' is neither... Dont shoot them because these are the native ones? I thought those madison lakes were full of them. IF they are edible...I will eat them. My religion prohibits me from killing ANYTHING that I do not intend on using...so that solves that.

OK, I usually don't get into personal beliefs on here - but here are my feelings...
Fleshy, I am not a God-fearing man, but I am an ethical hunter. Although the carp species are typically detrimental to the plantlife and "native" species in Wisconsin waters, the Bigmouth Buffalo is not. It feeds on plankton and other small aquatic creatures. The one I shot was probably 8-10 yrs old and quite mature. Honestly, I didn't know it was of the sucker family until about a week after I shot it - but I would've shot it either way. It was HUGE to me. I consider it a trophy even though it isn't hanging on my wall. It is still a rough fish, however, and virtually un-regulated in Wisconsin waters. Hunt what you wish for you, and good luck.

I still shoot them myself- and will not pass on a HUGE MF! I probably won't eat it. I will try it if someone else wants to clean/cook it. I'm not planning on slaughtering them like I have in the past - that's all I'm saying. "Religious Belief" I'm not touching that subject, not on here at least -------- ;) lol

I did filet the fish. I know it is hard to believe of a 34 lb fish, but I was only able to salvage two, 2 in wide strips of meat that are above the spine along the dorsal fin. That meat was full of bones and probably only good for pickling. She ended up fertilizing the garden. Hopefully the tomatoes will benefit.

:inlove Luvin' it! :t EDIT: How and the heck? Posted on the wrong thread. Sorry guys! My bad! I do read and look at yous guy's stuff tho!

Seems odd that a person from New Jersey would revive a thread in the WI section last posted on 5 days ago.

Just an observation.

Uh...O.K. - Whatever  I'm beginning to wonder 'bout you guys. That post was supposed to be on the recipe's thread - and in fact is. I don't know how it got here? But I was reading here earlier. And if my name was Dan I'd be a Danielle!

LOL w/e Dan. We all know who you are. We have known since you created this account. Just because we have not posted as much, does not mean we stopped talking to each other. When you posted on this thread I decided to look at your threads. I saw you broke a fin. I figured, certainly if he broke a fin he would have posted about it on the other board. Low and behold, you did.
Comparing the posts...
