anyone know the diameter of RA aluminum,(and or CF) barrel? i need to know if i need a new ball bit to make my hybrid.

The couple of RA barrels (both aluminum and CF) that I have toyed with have been pretty consistent at 1.160" outside diameter. I guess most people probably use a 1-1/8" (1.125") and just make a second pass to open up the groove a hair. I have ordered custom cutters from www.sfscarbide.com before, and they have told me that they can re-grind router bits to custom profiles. So if you really want it perfect, you could send them a 1-1/4" bit, and they could recut it to fit the RA diameter perfectly.

I don't know what the history of the barrel has been, so maybe they were 28mm (1.100") at one time. But I have done a couple of projects with RA aluminum and CF barrels in the last 6 months or so, and both were 1.160" OD, which is closer to 29.5mm

Hey Jas - How old is that barrel? The 1.160" aluminum "Tuna" barrel that I have was purchased about the middle of last summer. I wonder if we're seeing normal variation, or if there was a change made?

Its not too old, buy off a guy that went to Mexico and used it twice... 3 years--ish. 90cm with green handle rail.
