What is the most comfortable handle?

I have access to a machine shop and some cool equipment that will allow me to make pretty much whatever style handle I want for my American style speargun (55" stock).

I'm wondering if there is a handle design that is generally preferred above others that I can use as a template. For now forget trigger placement and mounting limitations that would normally limit my options - what is the most comfortable handle (ergonomic design) on the market?

if your going to make it yourself, customize it to fit YOUR hand...that would be the most comfortable for YOU

Make it a little small and use Polymorph to get the perfect fit. Its a heat moldable plastic, just heat it in hot water and squeeze it with your hand, it doesn't get any better than that. HEDS is your man for detailed use of this stuff :king

Thanks for the feedback! I have read many of your posts here and I really appreciate it.

I read up on some of the posts here and elsewhere re: custom handle design and sounds like a lot of work.

Just for the sake of curiosity, is there a handle (maker/brand) that many would agree is best in terms of ergonomic design? Or let me ask this: do you have a favorite? I realize that might not be exactly what works for me, but I'm curious just the same. Maybe I will try them out and if they work for me then great, if not then no worries back to the drawing board. Thanks again.

I have a Wong, its handle is as about a comfortable as your likely to find if you wear no or very thin gloves but with 3mm gloves there just isn't room for my fingers. I doubt there is one grip that is ideal. Have a search through google images at target pistol grips and see what you think Here's one for a start

I've used the Aimrite (Wong) and the Alexander, and much prefer the feel of the Aimrite.

I think its a copy of the grip on our military's 45 cal pistol.

I've never try the wong handle, but here is my 2c about the Alexander, I would definitly take Bill word on them , I find them a little short also slipery with leader gloves. The most confortable handle I've used was the omer handles.
I also find the Alexander trigger system too hard for your average reef gun, they are great for blue water but for reef guns I would go with something more responsive.

For ideas take a look at spearotiki, the guy there has whipped up some stunning wooden handles and really great steel and polymer ones too. He sells the stock pieces so you can even carve your own. If youre making your own speargun why not make it something special.
