A friend of mine sent this picture of a freediver with a device on his right forearm. Anybody know what it is?

looks like a medical device measuring blood oxygen saturation..

FII Kona Freediving Camp 2010. Project for Barry University, ask any of the participants, Martin Stepanek or Brett Scaglione. I only saw Facebook pictures but there is no detailed description

Looks like it's connecting to the tip of the middle finger, so I'm guessing it's at least an oxymeter.... (as others have pointed above) looks a bit big for just an oxymeter so must be collecting more data than that.

I think Will Tr (if i remember correctly) had taken part in some research and it did involve diving with some sort of expensive device/computer strapped on him...

After lots of extensive research scientists concluded that oxygen levels drop when one holds their breath for a long time :)

I guess a direct injection of Miller light shot through the worlds shortest fattest pneumatic speargun is not in serious contention?

Wow. Underwater pulse oxymeter? Who made those? (or is it home-based waterproofing one commercial oxymeter?)
