Cheers for the help Dave.! much appreciated. I'm being a bit adventurous here and should probably get one thing right which you might be able to help with. The gun I use doesn't use the sling power bands but has a hole in the muzzle so I figured I could use one with for added power. Could this work?
Here's some pics of the gun (picked it up from ebay about two years ago for around £45).

Ill re-tie the line or buy some nylon as this is a bit too thick. Do you think the combined method would work??

Cheers

Nick

P.S Do you know much about fitting different branded parts (handles/muzzles/etc) on a gun like this?

The white piping is some PVC pipe I've made a camera stand out of.

Nick try reading this thread http://forums.deeperblue.com/beginner-hunting/64504-dummies-guide-rigging-speargun.html .

Forget the circular band idea. Two sets of bands on a euro 75 will make it unusable. Use the correct length screw ins only. You can use bands in different thicknesses but 16mm diameter bands should be fine with 18mm or even 20mm bands possible.

The trouble with double bands or very thick single bands is recoil. The gun will become very inaccurate. For more power/range you need a longer gun but only if the underwater visibility is sufficeient to warrent longer shots.

A gun like yours set up correctly is ideal for beginners and will catch most fish in UK waters.

Change the nylon rigging for a single wrap set up using 150-200lb BS mono with crimps.

The barrel looks like its a standard 28mm dimeter tube so you can fit almost any make of trigger or muzzle. However unless it's broke what's the point?

Don't try to make the gun into something it isn't. A euro 75 with 16mm or 18mm screw in bands, articulated SS wishbone, standard 115cm x 6.5mm diameter SS spear and single wrap of 160lb BS crimped mono shooting line with a bungee let in is a great all round gun. I have one (a Beuchat) and have caugh thousands of good fish with it.

Good luck.

Dave.

Cheers Dave a load of help.! Are the power bands 'one size fits all' or do you have to have the corresponding muzzle for the branded power bands (for screwing the bands into the muzzle/ wishbone)??

Regards

Nick

18cm long bands/slings are the ones for a euro 75cm gun. The end thread is common to 90% of bands and guns. You can buy most makes of bands eg Cressi, Omer, Beuchat etc and they should fit. A few rare guns and a few unusual bands (usually 20mm diameter) have different threads.
