Mate phoned me up Sunday... have you got a mask I can borrow for this evening!! , leant mine to a mate and not got it back

:head I've leant my spare to a mates girlfriend, who have now split!! , and not got it back :head

SO! .. want to get a 2nd mask as a spare, but may use it to upgrade my current mask.

Whats the view on the coatings available? (Few on ebay that claim better visability / enhanced colours due to filter lens). Also a lot of Bigeye Cressi style masks now available.

I understand the reason Bass are spooked is often due to eye contact so was considering a reflective lense to hide my eyes!?

thanks.

I had a go with a mirrored mask a couple of years ago, I didn't like it at all, made it all very dark. I think that those big mirrored lenses could look like a pair of gigantic eyes too in the right light. I think that this is better addressed by technique rather than with a gadget.
I heard mention that the amber lenses are OK on a bright day for increasing the contrast, I've certainly thought about getting one for those ultra sunny mornings when the light is reflecting off every particle in the water.

Well... i looked into buying the riffe nadia mask with a reflective lense, and i started a thread on here somewhere which helped me make my decision. I ended up going with the riffe nadia mas... just without the mirror lense owning to the fact that it can make theview a little bit darker or something, therefore cutting vis a little... not what we want in the UK.

Apparently they are brilliant abroad or in bluewater hunting, but for our styles they aren't that special.

I'll try and dig up that thread in a moment.

Huw.

I had an Omer Alien with the mirrored lenses.

It was fine, but you could tell that it was a little darker than clear lenses, especially in low light conditions, in bright sunlight there wasn't much difference.

I've now gone back to clear lenses in an Olympia and not noticed any difference in the fishes reactions to me.

I agree with Pastor and Magpie on the mirrored lenses. I'm using now an ambered lens AQA/Gull Mantis mask and AQA/Gull Frameless mask with clear lens. These are the very same mask carried by Riffe. There are other fine masks out there. Fit is of primary importance.

Cheers/Safe diving,
