I've read so much through the search functions and done plenty in terms of research on the subject but i find myself with a great problem.

I have a sponsor who is going to buy me my next monofin!!:friday I want to use it in my first comp this year and need a little direction as cost no longer seems an issue (i know, i know)

Anyway if anyone has some good advice that would be great

Thanks
Chris

Over here in New Zealand the record holders all seem to use Waterway Glide, Leaderfins Hybrid, or Triton, or similar.

They seem to be very nice fins. I had a go in a Leaderfins Hybrid a couple of weeks back. I found it to be very efficient. For the same effort I put into Dolphin Kicking my C4 Flap 30's with the Mono I seemed to go a lot faster and further for the same energy.

Me personaly I don't wanna spend that much money for a fin (the current exchange rate could kill me) so I've decided to have a go at manufacturing my own fin.

Best of luck with the search. I'd suggest that you try a fin out before handing over great wads of cash as what I find works you may dislike and visa versa.

Let us know what you decide on.

Hi, from my limited experience only used a couple of monos, getting yourseld a Hyperfin Style mono is the answer, brand is another thing all together.

Personally i have a Maksym Moroz custom fin (trident monofin) and i am VERY happy with it and most of the other divers which have used it also really like it.

other popular monofins among the deeper divers here in Australia are the Leaderfins HYPER and the Waterway glide, just make sure if you order a Glide that you get the finwswimming model 1 blade in it and not the Freediving blade (i know that sounds daft but its worth it apparently) (no difference in cost) and also make sure you get a greater footpocket angle between 20-30 degrees, where as standard they are o ly 12 or so i think.

just some thoughts.

chris the best advice has been given no matter how high the budget or low it is what feels best take things into consideration to your size and kicking power and frequency try and borrow a fin from someone at your club but be careful if you break it you,ve bought it i ve tried a few of my friends fins and i cant help but notice how anxious they get as i aproach the wall for a turn i turn like milk ha ha
good luck chris
