Hi i'm going to ontario canada for 3 months and am planning to spend alot of time up north. while i am there i will be doing some free diving. i was wondering what water temperatues i should expect between june till september. will a 3 mm elios suit be enough. or will i need my 6mm. i think ill be diving in places like. nippissing , gorgian bay, simco , or maybe some of the small lakes found scattered around northern ontario.i dont relly know but i know ill be doing some free diving . depends where my cousin will be taking me. also can i expect to see some fish in these lakes. i spearfish but i know it is iligal in ontario. so if i can atlease see some fish doing asspeto and get some pics that would be great. see you all and take care.

Hey! Be sure to let us know when you get here! We dive frequently in Georgian Bay, Lake Simcoe and others. We'd love to do some diving with you while you're here.

As far as water temprature goes, it is presently around 5C in Georgian Bay, and the warmest at the moment is 10C in Lake Simcoe. By September the lakes will be at their warmest at around 18-22C, maybe a bit warmer near shorelines.

You will see fish, but not a lot of them likely. I have had dives where there are many fish, but these are rare. That said however, I believe aspeto is the best way to see the bigger fish here as well as anywhere.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Thanks for your response aaron. i didnt realize that the water is still so cold in ontario.so i guess ill bring my 6mm elios. cant wait to dive some lakes.never dove a lake before. compleatly new enviroment for me should be interesting. iv only dove in the mediteranean. i know of some lakes call heart lake and professors lake in brampton or caladon. are they diveable ill be living close to here for a while. see you

It's warming up, but it's still a long way from warm! You'll have to get up to Tobermory on Georgian Bay with us while you're here. Deep blue water with lots of shipwrecks to look at etc.

I've dived professors lake, but I wouldn't recommend it... There seems to be a by-law against swimming in the open part of that lake because the city of Brampton is worried about lawsuits if someone drowns. I swim there anyway, but the water is pretty murky, and only around 8-10m deep. There are better spots to dive in Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe, and even Lake Ontario.

See you when you arrive!
Aaron
