I have checked out a few places now, mostly south coast of London areas, I have checked with Scuba-dive shops as to where to dive, and they say "oh-yeah, diver here or there", then getting there finding that it's a JOKE! No vis, not fish, terrible conditions etc! Now I don't expect my home-land conditions, but COME-ON, there must be something worth slipping into!?

Marc, almost without exception in this country Scuba shops are NOT spearfishing friendly as they might be abroad. Portland Oceaneering is one such exception plus they are based in a good all-round area for spearfishing. UK Spearo is right if you are based in London to contact London club - diverse membership, talented spearos, very friendly AND, through trial and error, know good areas.

I'll vouch for Ben (Portland) and Dave (spearo) I know them both very well, you'll get great kit and advise from them both.

Yep the guy's at Portland Oceenering are very good no doubting that. Not only do they sell it they know how to use it as well.Check out the Dorset spearfishing thread we will try to post details of any plans to go spearing and anybody is welcome. :wave
