I started freediving recently, and I am having trouble finding a wetsuit for pool training. I am thin and very lean (65kg/145lb + 185cm/6'1"), so I get cold quickly without some kind of suit - especially in the overly air-conditioned pools I'm stuck using. I scuba dive with a 5mm wetsuit in water where most people would wear a 3mm.

I've been researching thin suits for dynamic training, diving in warm waters, and general swimming. I'm really interested in no-fins, so the ideal suit has minimal buoyancy, maximum flexibility, and is in the $200-350 USD range. I want a one-piece without a hood. I can stay warm enough with a 1-2mm suit. The trouble has been finding one that's not discontinued. Most of my searches result in 3-4 year old threads listing suits that are impossible to find for sale. These are the main suits I've considered, and all seem discontinued:

Cressi Glaros
Orca Breathe, Free, and Equip Lite

I also looked at a few others like the Aquasphere Aqua Skin, but a lot of companies don't make the tall/long sizes that I need. I briefly considered triathlon suits, but decided against them because of the buoyancy. Does anyone have a suggestion for a suit in production that is similar to the ones on the list?

Have you considered Speedo Thin Comp?

Look into blueseventy for an off-the-shelf 1-pc suit.

Alternatively, you could look into something custom, given your sizing.

If you go custom and didn't want a hood (although a hood is awesome for hydrodynamics and for someone that gets cold easily), I'd consider a high-neck suit, like those seen on hoodless 2-pc suits.

The reason that off-the-rack suits don't have this is because ppls necks are different diameters. Not an issue with a custom suit.

You could even order 2.5mm low-waist pants, 3mm torso and 1.5mm arms for instance.

Do some research on surfer suits. They often are available in skinny sizes that fit young surfers, no hood, one piece, long or short sleeve and leg. 3/2 are common and you should be able to find a 2/2 or even a 2/1. They also can be CHEAP! Triathlon suits are another possible, but finding one skinny enough might be hard.

PS. I have some experience in this, being almost as skinny as you.

Elios and Benti sub makes very thin custom wetsuit (1,5 mm) you can ask them for one withouth the hood

Did not know that Elios was making very thin suits now. VERY good info for me.

My Thanks!

Connor
