after so much hype for quite some time, Ted Ciamillo and the Lunocet fin just dropped off the face of the earth. what happened to what was hailed as the next best thing two years ago ?
ok, we all know that although the fin was beautiful, it did not work in v1 or v2.
but hey, was Ted not all about r&d and tweaking the protos until it all clicked into place ?
so, where is that whole project today ?

No idea, I was amped to get that fin. Still can't get the funds so I had to go and purchase a normal monofin which was cheaper for me.

He showed me the mod on the fin as well, looked pretty good but not sure about the performance. I'm still terrible at my technique, so gonna practice that first before I get the lunocet. But if he's disappeared, it's a shame, I figured the fin would be epic win.

Hi together, I'm new here in this forum, I registered, because I was interested on the opinion about the Lunocet.
I can tell you, Ted and his projects are still alive.
In June I decided to order a LUNOCET O15, after waiting for long time (because of new development) a few weeks ago I got a brandnew improved model. Good things take time - here it is.
As you can see - Ted did listen to your constructive critismen - I could not test it very often, but it works fantastic for me...

It was always the best looking fin ever since Titanium prototype, after that every new version looked even sharper so no concerns about the looks.

If it can also work as good as it looks it would be a killer, can You make pool video of how it performs underwater?

that new version looks quite impressive. can you tell us more about how it works ?
Ted used to spend quite a bit of time posting on the forum but he has given no new info in such a long time. i guess so many people saying his fin was all show and no go discouraged him a little.
having said that, it would be great to get him back and hear what he's developing.
is this new version shown on his site ?

It looks pretty sweet as always. Ted has a way of making things look good. I hope the changes work out. Certainly, bringing the feet closer together will effect the drag issue in a positive way. I noticed that the Lunocet website still shows the old "new-Lunocet". Is this new new-Lunocet a preproduction test unit, or is this what he is selling now? Has the cost changed? What did you pay for yours?

i have the same questions as Revan. as usual, the Lunocet site is very esthetic visually, but lacks true information regarding the products. also, it shows an older fin...
anyway, good to see things moving forward.

Give me time, I will provide you with a video as soon as possible.

On the website the previous model is shown (that is the model I expected to get when I did my order, but I have got a new one) - I'm sure, Ted will update the website soon.
The width of my lunocet is 83cm - this is wider than the previous model.
The clearance between the shoes is 1cm - this is a lot of difference to the previous model.
From Ted I know, that he was using high-speed underwater cameras to evaluate the angle of attack precisely.

Hey Fatchance100,

A quick question for you: Are the shoes on that new model semi-permanently attached (bolted in), or does it use a cleat release mechanism like the old new-Lunocet? One complaint expressed about the previous model was how the release system allowed the foot to rotate relative to the fin when swimming. I'm wondering if the new design addresses that issue, and how.

It seems strange that Ted sent you something other than what you ordered. Did he ask if you wanted to try the new design prior to sending it? From what you have said, it sounds like it just showed up one day after months of waiting for the model shown on the website.

We'll all be looking forward to seeing some performance data. Do you know what Ted's plans are for getting performance data out?

What happened to you Fatchance100? No reply for many weeks now.

Last I heard Ted was working on another revision - this was a couple weeks ago. I had the impression there would be nothing before next spring - but could be wrong. Ted said he was very occupied with the submarine project right now.
