I think spearfishing is ilegal in Thailand so there isn't much demand probably.

Hi Michael!
Today I have been many hourts in the internet and found some infos about
that/www.phuketgazette.net/issueanswers/details?aspid=527.they say, that it is no prob under some circumstances. Besides I always asked the local guys therte is some info at http//www.phuketgazette.net/issueanswers/details.asp?id=527
I go spearfishing in Thailand since several years and ask lokals many times
but never been sure if those infos are relieable...
Welll, last year I did a trip from Lombok to Flores by boat and under way I asked if its OK to shoot fish and the Captain said :yes ,no prob at all,
but later I found out that we`ve been in a marine-reserve-area and it would have been absolutely NOT allowed to shoot fish with spearguns!?!?!
Well,I have a new question:
How can I find out where spearfishin is leagal and where it`not???
Thanks

I think in this case the locals are not the right poeple to ask for a reliable answer.
Try asking in one of the tourist-help stations in bangkok (don't know where else they exist), they might know who to call to find out.
As far as my general knowledge goes, it's ilegal all over Thailand.
