Hey everyone,

So to make this easy... I'm a Mares dealer for diving gear. Here in Ontario Canada its illegal spear so we don't sell much of their spearing stuff. I've got a couple of their smaller guns I've taken various places but nothing serious.

Around June I'm heading down to Panama (pedasi and then santa catalina) for fishing\diving\spearing. What Mares gun should I take down with me? I have always liked pneumatics but I would like to hear everyones opinions.

I want to be able to shoot some reef fish but get into some pelagics too since we'll be out fishing (wahoo, mahi, tuna) I don't think I plan on taking anything huge but want a decent gun.

Anyways if anyone can offer some insight it would be greatly appreciated.

oh one last question, I'm heading mexico in the next couple of weeks. I have a nice short pneumatic that I've been able to toss in my check baggage but from what I read Mexico doesn't like air guns. I want something short to pack in my luggage since I don't want to pay for another bag on the airline (spirit) because I'm only going to get a couple days to spear and fish. Think its worth while for me to grab a really short band gun, or just toss in a 3 piece polespear?

Thanks!
Doug

Hi Doug

Just arrived from the border between Panama and Colombia.

I took with me a Cyrano 970, an 850 and a 135 Asso. The 970 was by far the best choice, very manureable for reef or even caves and powerful enough for the big ones.
