Just got a buoy for deep diving, and Im now longing to get out.
What kind of ropes would you suggest?

I would love some recommendationas and links,

Thanks,
Morten

i use a standard braid, just like those for climbing, from 6 to 10 mm thick

white color would be better (not blue...)

i usually buy it at brico stores (.50 to 1.2 euros/m)

we use a polypropylene rope which you can buy pre-stretched. It won't rot which is a great advantage. Get at least 10mm so you can grab it easily.

we find 6mm is a good deal to grab (but sure, size counts...)

we have to travel a bit far to dive and 10+ mm ropes make a bulky roll, also heavy when wet

i think minimum 10mm is comp. rules to so that could be good to get used to if you are planning to compete later on.

what float/buoy did you get?

It depends what for you will use it..
We have 2 different lines..14mm for free immersion-better grip and 8mm for constant..
And about the length..add 10m to what you wish to buy:D It will save you some time.
About the type..is it only for buoy take the cheapest climbing one, if you are planning to build a conuterweight system you may consider buying the more expensive one. The cheaper may damage when used for counter.

i think its 9mm rope now according to the latest AIDA rules and is only specified in the world champs catagory so anything is fine, funnily enough i use a 9mm now and it is perfect, lanyard slides more easily, less issues with current compared to 12-14mm rope yet still big enough to grab for FIM. now just need to find some good static line. the stuff i'm currently using is too stretchy.

Polyprop is horrible stuff in general, but great for freediving because it's rough (for FIM) and stretches very little.
