Which wet suit should I get?

Hello everyone. Well I'm having a bit of an issue. I'm starting to free dive/spearfish, and I think is time for me to get a wet suit.

Now, most of my diving will take place in south Florida, so I know i should get a 3mm maybe 5mm, however I'm 5'10" and 135 pounds, meaning that I'm a bit skinny.

So, I don't know which brand is better for we the skinny people. Could anyone help me with that?
Or what would be perfect for florida weather.

the thickness is not related to how fat or skinny you are, but to water temp and dive time.
Do a wise thing: drop a line to Jim at The Spearfishing Store He's a floridian dealer selling wetsuit to loads of floridian divers, and he's also a great guy!

Many people here will recommend Elios - and for a good reason - it's a good stuff. I chose Diveskin - because we have some delivery problems here in Czech (for ex. one my friend have ordered Elios in April and still have nothing) But - necessary to say that the problem is hardly on the Elios side but local Czech dealer.
Plus - the Diveskin is a bit cheaper.

But I think there could be more custom made suits producers around - just keep searching.

JIMDOE2YOU- is a great guy, but unless he can get you a custom fit one- you're better off with Elios or diveskin or another manufacture that will custom fit you. I personally am for going with Elios only because I have 2 and love the fit of them both. The 3mm keeps me warm enough in 60 degree water for several hours. If you in colder water than that- go 5mm. But in FL not sure how cold that water gets? But I would suggest getting "Opencell" interior.

Plus - the Diveskin is a bit cheaper.

Sheepeck, I would be interested in how you like the suit.
How does it fit?
How is the quality?
Which one did you buy, how thick, open cell inside?

I know going costum made suits are the ideal thing, however, I was wondering if there is a brand that bases it sizes for we the skiny people?

something i could just go to the store and pick it up...

PSagion88, why you would prefer to pick your suit in the shop?
To order it at reliable maker is fine - fast delivery to your door and fit is without any compromises. You can't be wrong with custom made.

hum? i mostly mentioned store pick up, because I'm just to lazy to have someone take my measures, however, i did a bit more research on diveskin, and I'll give it a try... also my friend's father recommended me the same website, and showed me his, i played around with it, and it feels nice, its soft inside to, which i like, so I'm having mom measure me, and order one... now should I go camouflage or black?

If you want black, then you have to get over the loss of inner soft opencell material - Diveskin makes black freediving suit only with nylon interior. If you would like opencell inside (Diveskin calls it "slick") then you have to choose from spearfishing suits.

This may be a completely stupid question:
I understand that this is not the ideal, but could you spearfish in a neoprene drysuit?
I know you would need to empty as much air as possible predive, and wear more weight.

you "probably" could spearfish in one but there will be a lack of mobility- you'll hate it and end up buying a freediving suit.

I only ask because i have a 3mm closed cell suit that is good but could get a little cold. I also have a compressed neoprene drysuit that will keep me plenty warm but be a bit bulky. Just wondering if there was a major problem with wearing a drysuit.

Not my personal experience, but I believe Jon had some very funny comments about the unpleasant results of trying to wear a dry suit freediving, Might ask him, but I don't think it works, period.

Just suggesting cos i really cant afford to buy a 5mm wetsuit yet.

Will make do in my 3mm. What doesn't kill me only makes me stronger. I just hope it doesnt kill me .
