Hi
It’s time to buy a new spear-fishing wetsuit, and after making a long research I’m more confused than I was at the beginning.
After learning the differences between the different types of neoprene I’ve decided to buy an open cell wetsuit, but it doesn’t end there.
From what I learned the manufacture of the neoprene is important (I believe that Yamamoto is the best, am I right?)
In addition there are other factors to consider – the high level suits are from neoprene covered with SCS and titanium.
I guess that the optimum is Yamamoto’s neoprene with SCS and titanium, but it’s out of my budget.
If I have to choose between the two, would you recommend regular Yamamoto’s neoprene or neoprene from another manufacturer, but coated with SCS and titanium? Which is more important?

In my eyes neither, I use a suit with regular wetsuit lining outside and open cell inside. What is important is that your suit fits comfortably and that it keeps you warm, so youd want to have a custom cut suit. What is important is a loading pad on your chest and knee pads and elbow pads. Neoprene compresses with regular use anyway, alot of people I dive with buy a new suit every one to two years...

Don't worry about the grade of neoprene or fancy coatings. Just get a fit for purpose suit that fits from a reputable manufacturer. If you are spearing You'll prolly need nylon outside, loading plate, reinforced knees and elbows perhaps and open cell inside... anything else is just icing.

Its like 'tackle tarts' that buy high end fishing gear... they don't catch You any more fish.

Thanks guys,

Your answers are very helpful and I intend to follow your suggestions.
