I freedive because it's something I love to do. I also love music - it could be said that my two greatest passions are music and freediving. As well, I like to ski and although I'm competent on the piste, I'm a far better freediver than I am a skier, the main reason being that I never skied when I was a child.
Growing up was spent partly underwater. At the pool I would dive and lie at the bottom of the deep end on my back or on my stomach and see how long I could stay down. Same at the seaside. It's important to remember what we loved to do when we were kids...
All apnea disciplines are pleasing to me with perhaps the exception of statics but I do practise dry statics a couple of times a week. I enjoy the grace and rhythm of both depth and dynamics, the slowness of the glide which propels my body and the feeling of freedom during neutral and negative buoyancy.
The healthy aspect of freediving shouldn't be neglected. From the moment I began training in earnest the benefits have been evident. I'm healthier, trimmer, more confident and sexier than before (oh yay

). Isn't it grand that the older we get, the better the chances are to improve aquatically? Freediving beats wrinkle cream, any day!
Finally, for me the link between freediving and singing with regard to breathing is interesting and helpful. To sing long phrases, perfect exhalation control and relaxation of the diaphragm are essential.
