Well we all have this certain store where we go too as often as we can or actually cant but were addicted to our underwater world and are always looking for cool things to spend our hard earned cash on, yes its our local dive shop... and this is why our local rabiteck shop is the best when it comes to excellence in service
About two or three weekends ago we went out to sea only to find that visibility wasnt very favourable and that the water being a bit cold that there isnt much fish about, so we trawled a spinner for a while and when nothing rose to the bait decided to go closer to the harbour and try and catch some squid, at least we can take home some calimari then. Well we didnt get any of those either even though some kids in kayaks 10m from us were yanking them out one after the other, so we decided our jigs must be of the wrong colour and decided to head in and rather call it a day of bad luck. Bad luck was a understatement, after the boat was back on the trailer and we were gathering our kit I picked up my mask and could almost not beleive what I saw, I had no more lenses left in the face peice, only shattered bits of glass around the edges, apparently someone must have fallen on it or a stray weight belt landed too close to home :waterwork
Soo as soon as I had the chance which was a week later, I head out to Louis shop to go and show my misfortune and to see if the situation can be rectified, needless to say I cant expect him to carry my loss. So he takes my mask and goes back to the importers, who was out of stock with my particular mask and also not willing to refund obviously stating that something heavy must have fallen on it. Louis then bought a mask with the same face but a single lens instead of double which I had out of their showroom for a discounted price and gave me a call that he got me a new mask but unfortunately i have to pay for it. I also ordered a 5m bungee with swivels and a float winder which they make up when I took my mask in. So I dig into my wallet and gather the R400.00 required to refund my mask and pay for the extra goodies I ordered, thinking I should actually wait another week, but then I wont be able to go diving this weekend past. Upon arival at the rabiteck store Louis greets me with a plastic bag containing my order, new mask and a invoice of R185.00, aparantly he got the mask for a 100 bucks from the showroom floor and didnt want to make a profit from a customers misfortune, so only asked me to refund hes out of pocket expence on my regard. What a bargain, went diving with the new mask yesterday and Im very happy with what I got. Also as a added bonus Louis is a top class spearo giving away sound advice on equipment, conditions and spots for free. The store is always well stocked and service is quick and theyll even organise for you to fetch things from them after hours if you cant make it to their shop in time or like hes done with my wetsuit deliver it to your door and throw in a pair of wetsuit socks for free. So this is basically to say thank you to dive shop owners willing to give customers an above average class of service :) :)
