Hi Joker, I'm also from Wisconsin, Madison to be exact, as are several others. As far as the regulations for spearing fish; Rough fish there's no problem spearing at anytime, the same for panfish (crappies, blue gills, perch, ect) when in season. Game fish are off limits, the same goes for catfish, you can't spear them. Also there are certain lakes in the state that don't allow any spearfishing at all even for the rough fish such as Devil's Lake. Just to let you know in Lake Monona here in Madison there's a warm water outlet where the carp like to crowd, that is a great place to spear especially in the middle of the winter, it's ot too cold there and the visibility isn't bad. I'm sure Jon will also reply to your post with information that I may have overlooked. what part of Wisconsin are you from?
Later,

Brian

you know that little town called germantown?? lol yea im from there but right now im in high school at marquette, but i would probably b spearing in lake five, geneva, and big cedar (sometimes)

Hey Joker,

I know where Germantown is because I went to grade school in Menomonee falls. I also used to work for a dive shop out that way back in college.

You've mentioned some nice lakes out that way but be careful about trying to bring a speargun in Lannon quarry- trout are planted there every year and there really isn't much else worth spearing in the place.

I'd be up for going out to Lake Geneva this Sunday- saturday is already fully planned for me by my "honey-do" list. ;)

Lake Michigan can be nice for spearing carp out by the breakwalls- best vis around when the wind is right.

k well good luck, ill be sitting at home doin homework and figuring out how im goin to build my gun

Joker,

Welcome. I think if you look around a bit, you will find that the guns are not as expensive as one may think...at least for starters. With Christmas right around the corner...your timing may be good.

Happy Spearing,

Gene, Oshkosh
