I hear through the grape vine a 212lb sturgeon was taken spearfishing recently in your state?

i couldn't help but laugh at a comment on my previous post.

"sturgeon should not be speared. Real sportsmen will fish for this amazing fish and then make a decision to keep or throw them back after landing legal ones. This is a very sad event. These fish take forever to mature and reproduce very slowly. Spearing these fish is a sport for the fat, lazy, and true UNsportsman."

hahaha so sitting on your boat, drinking a beer, for half a day is for the lean and active?"

Yes, it's illegal to spear them while diving.

I heard from my buddy that the 200lb+ sturgeon was taken at lake winnebago from above the ice. they cut a small hole and wait for the fish to come check it out, then they hit it with a pole.
