I was planning to order a custom made Elios wetsuit, but not until I've lost some weight.

Now I just heard that they are extremely busy, and customers should expect to wait at least 2 months before delivery... so unfortunately it is too late to order a wetsuit from Elios for the freediving event I am going to at the end of June. I forgot that all the other freedivers are also getting a new wetsuit for the summer

This forum has some threads on wetsuits for women (we oddly shaped creatures), but most of them end with "get a custom made from Elios".

So if that is not an option, what would you suggest? I will use it in lakes and the sea in Denmark, Germany, Sweden over the summer. It shouldn't be too delicate, so a 5mm made of something durable.

It will be my first wetsuit, for my first dives outside the pool, and I will probably not go below 20m.

There is not a big selection of apnea wetsuits in stores in Copenhagen, and I am pretty sure that they have no apnea wetsuits made for women, so I will have to order it over the internet. Preferably from another EU-country to avoid customs.

Any suggestions?

Try DiveSkin (Greece). Spiros' custom suits are good and inexpensive ($159 = ~130€). I had my taylor-made wetsuit in five days, though typically it probably takes little more (2-3 weeks).

Sepadiver makes pretty rugged ones made-to-measure, at a very decent price. They might even have spearo suits open cell inside.

Thanks everyone

I am just about ready to order - 1½ kg to go...

:)

Hi Evita,

depending on how well you can fit into standard sizes (I don´t) you could also order a cressi freediving suit. I´ve seen quite a few divers in those and they seem to be pretty durable.

For that kind of diving I also would pick one with nylon coating on the outside.

Sorry, I am on of those freedivers who are getting a new suit made be Elios, but it´s still in the making ;-)

best wishes
Holger

"The one I was thinking of getting from Elios was a 5mm with nylon outer coating and the "black" inner coating (can't remember the right name).

Now I can't get an Elios suit, but I will try to get a Marea or Diveskin with similar specifications, if possible."

Huh? Where did you hear that? I can believe it. I'm at almost 6 weeks myself and no word yet.

Yes they are giving delivery times longer that usual.
I friend of mine receive a quote and delivery for August.

I went with Topsub, but will go with Elios for next time. Custom is wonderful.

Ohhhh i got my 3mm heiwa neoprene open cell custom made elios suit last august, just before going to greece for 3 weeks of freediving.

I lovelovelovelovelovelove that suit! It's a winner! BTW my gf and a friend of us (also a girl) had their elios suits tailored together with mine, and they absolutely love'em.

I ordered a custom made Marea 5mm suit with Thermo inner lining/Nylon outside today.

Keeping my fingers crossed for one month delivery...

Would be nice to see some pictures of the suit when you get it.

I was diving this weekend on Swedish westcoast.

Do you go freediving there also?

I will try to post a photo when I get the suit, so all the Elios fans in here can make critical comments ;)

Some of the guys I train with are going to [ame="http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthread.php?p=532629#post532629"]Kullen[/ame] next weekend - unfortunately I have to wait for my suit :( Until now I have only seen Kullen above water, and only once, but I would love to explore it from the wet side this summer. And I am sure I will get the opportunity again, because it is such a popular place to go from Copenhagen. Otherwise no, I don't know much about the Swedish westcoast. I have heard about Lysekil and Högsma from the others, though.

Where do you go freediving? Any recommendations?

I was in Lysekil this weekend and i also saw the Fridykning.se diveboat there.

I met some hungarian freedivers and they also liked to go to the Nordic Deep competition.

Gullmarsfjorden that they will dive in then is the best place for diving in Sweden in my oppinion.

Hope you get the suit so you can go freediving all summer.

There was a nervewrecking delay in the delivery of my wetsuit - one week late despite Marea's assurances of one month delivery when I ordered it :rcard

So there were some anxious phone calls and emails to Italy, one of them with a hissy tantrum in it :martial

The wetsuit finally arrived the night before my departure (not sure if it was due to the tantrum or not).

And I ended up having a lot of fun in it :inlove

It is a really good fit with an easy velcro fastener. The seams and the nylon outer coating are very beginner-friendly (pulling and stretching the jacket while learning how to put it on/take it off). There is a plush inner lining that makes it easy to wear (no soapy water needed) and it dries relatively fast.

Looking forward to my next dives in it!

Nice suit :)

It also made it easy to spot you on the apnoe-happening in Hemmoor. Good that the suit made it to you on time !

It makes a big difference if you got a suit that you feel comfortable in.

see ya
