the sheer hard work put in must be staggering, its important for our planet that human beings continue to break those barriers, that only a few short years ago many thought were unbreakable. thanks for your post, oops whats happened in russia & new zealand these days, there are some superb results

Amazing that it is all NZ and Russia. Must be the first time two countries took all the awards.

Hi Sara-Lise,

Nominated?

The World Freediving Award goes to the best freediver in each AIDA competition discipline, the best resultat done that year in an official ranking competition. The AIDA Ranking list is used to 'nominate' (or appoint) the Winners.

Bill, since you mention the Ranking: what happened to the good old excel tables that were provided on the Aida Int'l web? For 2008, apparently this has been replaced by Simo Kurra's Results Register. I like that tool a lot, but it is quite incomplete, many competitions are missing. Simo himself has a disclaimer Please note, this is a testing site, not an official AIDA site!.

Will the excel table for 2008 appear at some point?
