I believe that Ashley Futral (USA) did a clean 58m CNF last year in Grand Cayman, May 2011 during the PFI Deja Blue comp...not sure if that should be in the AIDA World Rankings?

you guys are right - but maybe there's some weird cut-off date? also when you think about it we all know that William Trubridge also achieved a clean 101 meter CNF so why list only the 93 meter?

Bill can you shed some light on this for us?

cheers,

kp

i just checked the rankings and none of the records achieved and DejaBlue Deux (2011) are registered in the AIDA dbase.

the national records for Carolina Schrappe, Erin Magee, Grant Hogan and Ashley Futral are all missing. Perhaps Trux or Bill can look into :wave why they are mysteriously absent and to also correct the rankings & awards???

Hi all,

The World Freediving Award can be corrected, BUT for this to happen we need the judges at this event to do their job and send in the result-list from this AIDA event.

I will do what I can to check this, but I also need help to have this results in the AIDA ranking ASAP.

As I wrote already several times in other threads, since several months, AIDA accepts only results submitted through their automated system (see the tutorial at http://www.aidainternational.org/videos/aida_ranking.mov), so results that were not sent in this way will not appear in the official ranking. The interface is available since September. So far there were perhaps just some 3-4 competitions submitted in this way.

Since last March, there was another intermediate solution available for the submission of official results (APNEA.cz - Competition Worksheet), but it was also rarely used.

Additionally, judges and/or competition organziers should be aware that the rules of AIDA Int. require the results to be sent within 14 days after the end of the event. That also happens rather rarely. So striclty technically taken, results of all competitions not reported in the required way and in the required time, should not be in the official ranking at all. In reality I think it would represent more than 80% of competitions, so there there is a lot of tolerancy from the side of AIDA, but waiting half a year with submitting the results is not the best way to go.

PS: Apnea.cz lists also unofficial ranking results, but as I wrote for listing them officially, the organizer/judge needs to use the official system

Hi all,

Please !!

Could someone... send me the missing TOP result that is missing from 2011, incl comp name, date and place. And it would be super if you could add the names of the judges.

Bill

Aloha Bill,

i just sent you a PDF with the Official PFI Deja Blue II Competition results that was sent to AIDA by the event organizer last year.

Thanks for incorporating the results.

Thank you very much, Craig

I got the mail :)

Now I wait for the other to do the same, still missing some comp-results with TOP ranking results !!!

Dear Trux, you forgot to mention that the 'new' Method only works *if* the Competitions were announced *after* September. As most of them are usually entered to the calender 3-6 Months before the Competition date, the low rate
is quite understandable.
I know this from a organizer-perspective too - we had a comp. Announced in May, took place in November. Dear Athletes: therefore some 'delays' and 'missing results'. Additionally the new competion & results Backend has some dependency on the (also) new judge Database.

Things arn't as easy as some persons believe. There are about 1000 persons which are very loosely connected. They are to use a new backend. Everybody who is working in a bigger company which made some organisational changes has stories to tell about problems arising from such changes. And in a company one can easily 'order' such things to happen, as the workers are there every day (and payed for that).
Given the circumstances, AIDA as well the Organizers didn't too bad. The transition brought some hickups - OK. But it went surprisingly well.

Since last March, there was another intermediate solution available for the submission of official results (APNEA.cz - Competition Worksheet), but it was also rarely used.

Well - we tried to. But it just freaked out bugwise (couldn't enter the nationality, messed up some results, ...).

Hi Clemens,

If your competition took place in November, and for some reason you could not use the old ID from AIDA Calendar, you could either re-announce the competition or contact Simo Kurra to get a new ID.

The change of the backend is not such a problem you think. The organizers who are willing to cooperate, cooperated before and cooperate now, so their results end sooner or later in the ranking anyway. The main problem are those organizers who simply do not care and never send any results. Unfortunately, they are numerous. It then makes no big difference whether there is any backend at all, or whether the data are being entered manually by someone at AIDA. The only difference is, that now nobody can blaim AIDA when results are not in the ranking, because each organizer has the possibility and the responsibility to enter the data themselves.

As for the Apnea.cz Excel sheet - all reported issues were fixed, and there are organizers who do use it and submit the data in this way. There may be some problems with less usual old Excel versions, or with Open Office, but the data can be used anyway. As far as I see all Austrian competitions are in the Apnea.cz ranking (except of one from 2004).

We already did that.

For the rest of your ongoing organizer-rant:
Yes, it was not really a problem in cases where there were responsible Persons around the whole year. But in some cases you have a bunch of people doing this just a few weeks a year (and afterwards doing living their usual lives). And in the later case there is no one directly responsible when problems arise. This will be better in future, as there is the 14 days limit now.
But for '11 - the year of the transition we are observing the aforementioned problems; after all: Its not really a big deal. For sure it may be frustrating for the one or other athlete if results are missing. But hey - all the administrative tasks are done on a voluntary basis.

I just posted my reply to your post because /me thinks your ongoing organizer-bitching is a little bit unfair. As I understand the glitches which arose this year from an organizer standpoint also too well. It went OK, but only because we are meeting and doing stuff the whole year anyway. So there were persons & time available for reannouncing & filling out the relevant form(s).
I isn't really a big deal. But a) it has to be done. and b) sbdy has to be there to check that out first. It required 'additional human resources'. As small as they may be, they must be available beforehand.

Clemens, I do not think I am unfair. There are simply organizers who never send any results at all, regardless what system is used. They do not send them with the new system, as they did not send the before either, despite being repeatedly politely asked to submit them in any form they had. This is what I am comlaining about. I do not complain about those organizers who encouter some problems and try to resolve them somehow (like in your case), I complain about those who are indifferent or simply do not communicate at all.

Hi Trux, I wanted to thank you again for your excellent work on apnea.cz ranking and to ask you about the 6 pack rank for 2011 - will that be published soon? cheers

Yes, it is on the way to be published, just after the WAFA announcement.
