Annelie Pompe (World record holder 126 meter Variable Weight) will mid may attempt to summit Mount Everest 8.848 meters. If succeeding doing this without oxygen she will be one of only a handful climbers ever having done this.

She will most likely also be the best athlete ever on a vertical (no oxygen) scale, having dived deepest+climbed highest without added oxygen/mixed gases.

Great project! Wishing good luck! Will be there any physiologists present and studying the case?

This is not her first attempt at Everest. Hopefully this time she makes it!

Herbert better start climbing soon then, he has some catching up to do :)

Best of luck Annelie, do keep us posted Sebastian

How about Wim Hof of Netherlands? He reached over 7600m on Everest, and holds many Guinness apnea records (static under ice, dynamic under ice, etc.) I'm not sure how deep he has dove.

Surely any diving is insignificant in terms of distance compared to the climbing. I think diving would be the cherry on top of the pie if someone reached the top of everest (i mean only then would the diving depth really come into play)

Ah Wim Hof - isn't this the guy that did a marathon somewhere in the arctic wearing only a pair of shorts? lol

Just looked him up - it's the same guy. Apparently tried to also climb everest in a pair of shorts but failed due to a foot injury.

I'm guessing he is not wasting any money on Elios... :)

He turned back at 7600m on Everest, due to a foot injury sustained while he did the half marathon on ice in -30C with only shorts and no shoes...

I do remember seeing a documentary about this guy - the marathon did not look pretty (his feet were a mess) although it was very impressive.

Hmm I think I'll stop complaining that the water in the pool is cold lol

Hi
Annelie has never before attempted Chomolungma.
She has tried Cho Oyo and Shishaphangma, but failed both.
Highest verified so far 7985m
But is right now better trained than she ever have been in her life.
Right now going up with car to base Camp on Tibet side.
So far reached nearly 4000 meters.
A 1 month acklimatization with different climbs awaits.

Very very nice! Congratulations! Any big plans for the WC depth? Natalia could use some competition I think :)

Oh and on the article I found this funny comment in regard to the poor choice of the article's title:

Everest told reporters today, "I feel used! She was only on top for a few minutes and then she left. She didn't even stop for a cigarette, and didn't leave me her phone number. She doesn't ring, she doesn't write; Swedish girls are all the same when they're abroad."

STOP PRESS

Swedish girl accuses Everest of sexual assault and applies for the Nepalese mountain to be extradited to Sweden for questioning. An arrest warrant was tonight issued by Swedish prosecutor Madeleine Nye.

Annelies summit was OK. She used O2 from about 7500m.
I stopped at 7000.
Hard work.
Lost 5 kilos.
Stayed at 6500 for 10 days.
Heartrate 85, saturation 65% 24/7
Went from 140 to 165 in "bloodvalues"
