world spearfishing championships in portugal

Anybody know anything about the world spearfishing championships in Portugal this year?

Dates...? Do you think it would be interesting to go as a spectator?

It will be from 10 to 17 of September in Sines...
On Google Earth type "sines,portugal" and you'll see the location.

Spearfishing comps. are generally no fun as a spectator because the only exciting bit is when the fish are weighed in and perhaps the prize-giving ceremony. Unless you get to be a boatman for one of the teams you won't see much 'live' action.

yeah I had feeling it might be like that. On the plus side, at the close of competition, there must be a few opportunities to have a drink with the pros and drill their brains for secrets.....

refreshing this old thread to boost some "World Champ fever".
local news: Italy's team members seem to be in a great shape: the national championship took place this weekend, and these are tha rankings of our three musqueteers:
-Maurizio Ramacciotti (7th place in Chile 2004 World champ) is the new italian national champion
-Stefano Bellani (World Champion in charge, 1st place at Chile 2004) got the 3rd place at the italian nationals
-Bruno De Silvestri (4th in Chile 2004) got 5th place in the nationals
...Top guys are always top guys...
