Hi all,

good news for the freedive world, seems like we will have a new freedive computer soon!

Thanks to XDeep, a polish brand specialized in scuba gear, a new dive-computer will enter the market soon!

This computer is going to be proposed at first as simple “Bottom Timer”all ready responding to many of our needs, and following in a short time will arrive even a “Trimix” and a “Nitrox” version.

I’ve had the opportunity to get in touch with the product at last European Dive Show which took place in Milan (15-17 February 2013), and immediately after I contacted directly XDeep asking if a version specific for freediving is on the way… IT IS!

XDeep, thanks to the high number of requests, is working on a software specific for freediving!!! They are coding it and looking for all the functionality that freedivers want!

I’m writing here to collect for XDeep as many requests and suggestion as possible to produce the best frrediving computer possible, based on their hardware!

They are eager to work on the freedive software and to curve it to our needs!

Here following some information over the XDeep Black.

Hardware features:
- Full color, high resolution OLED display;
- Big balanced buttons with electronic sensor (easy to operate);
- Build in digital compass;
- Build in accelerometer with screen flip;
- Automatic screen brightness control with internal light sensor;
- USB port;
- Can be charged with any smartphone microUSB charger;
- Ultra compact size;
- Strap and bunge mount.

General software features:
- Multiple switchable screens - user can set the order and switch on or
switch off particular screen;
- U.VSI - very precise vertical speed indicator showing ascent/descend
speed regarding to set optimal/maximum speed for particular depth range;
- Digital compass with Guide.ME function - device automatically navigates
over the waypoints;
- 16 build in color shemes + user color scheme;
- Special alarm color codes;
- Max depth alarm, total dive time alarm, avg depth alarm, alarm clock;
- Powerfull logbook with huge memory;
- Very quick firmware upgrade;

And very important: upgradeable between bottom timer, to nitrox computer
or trimix computer.

Nitrox computer =general features +
- Buhlmann ZHL-16C;
- Three mixes up to 100% O2 switchable underwater;
- PPO2 alarms additionally to general alarms;

TMX computer =nitrox features +

and OFF. The mixes in ON state will be selected as the computer during the
dive. BACKUP mixes can be selected manually by user (it may be partner's

Sincerest form of flattery, Eric!

Hi Dave,

are you referring to Liquivision Xen developed by Eric Fattah, right?

Unfortunately I've never had the opportunity to see it here in europe... Should work great!

It will be interesting to compare the two devices...

Again no audible alarms?

Hi Sai,

no audible alarms as far as I know, only visual.

I'll ask!

250 Euro seems like a good price. Do you know the dimensions of the computer? is there any release date yet?

Here you can find an interesting video displaying the product: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tAc_AK3StBc]Prezentacja nowego Komputera Xdeep OLED - Centrum Nurkowe Seaquest[/ame]

Besides the language, the preview of some functions is interesting; very cool is the possibility to have the screen display of the dive profile! (The indication of the average descent and ascent speed could be interesting...)

It would be great if the file containing the dive data could be accessed via the USB cable. Too many of these dive computers require overly expensive syncing hardware and software which forces yet more cash from the customer. It would be refreshing if a datafile could be downloaded as CSV or XML and opened in a text editor or spreadsheet tool to be used as we see fit.
