No, just put a nice clean center of mass shot to it's spine, but you will find the small firecracker ones sometimes fight harder then the big brothers.

I feel a well made slip tip will land more fish without tear out and bent shafts. Pros can use well placed flopper shafts but the list is short and the skills developed over a long learning curve. I use a slip tip 80% of the time on blue water gamefish.

hmm alright, i have a few months before the yellow tail start running to make my decision. thanks for the info!!:)
 
I find if I wait longer they get closer, larger ones appear and u can leave the smaller ones alone, but I live in NZ where schools can have 100pd + yellowtails on the fringes...
