congratz, they're pretty babies. Did you have to wrestle them out of the hole or was it an all open water job?

mumtaz hamour :D

THNX AMPH .... THE DIVE WAS AT DUSK AND THEY WERE OUT ON THE SAND ONE OF them came off the bottom to investigate me when i dove down i aimed at his head but hit him in the cheek outa shock he came flying at me and hit me in the shoulder

Hello Sanad. I haven't been an active visitor lately of this forum, but posts like theese will force me to get back on track.

I've been to Khor Odaid every weekend this month and I noticed that Grouper (hamour) in cold water tends to hide in caves and rarely come out. Do you agree with me? The pictures you posted, were you freediving or scuba? what area of Qatar did you catch them at?

Good to be back

Take care

First of all I only Freedive ... Me no scuba ... I trust my lungs morerofl .

Groupers here have no certain behavior, But you can catch them out at early morning or at sunset..... I was spearfishing in an area that really looked died to me ... and its heavily fished (Al-Fasht Al-Gabe) or (the stupid reef in english...looool) don't know the reason of the name!!!rofl
anyways ... at 4.15pm fish start to come out of nowhere!!! even I searched every single rock.... earlier!!

most of the time, I turn and look behind my back to find lots of fishs following me .... shot some nice emperors, some Fasker ... and just before the dark.... I was stringing an emperor ... and saw a large grouper totally out of the reefs, actually it was approaching to a closer distance to have a better look at me!!!!!!:)
I was like ....screaming please wait let me load the gun first ... luckily I did and gave it a nice head shot ..... But she gave me a nice bite too:crutch
when I was stringing it.

while this one caught in (Al-asere area) its about 40 something km from 4seasons hotel.

so if you want to shoot Groupers in the open water .... be there at early morning or sunset, (just before dark)...... want to shoot them in the holes go at midday or noon.

shooting them in the open water much much better to me, I really enjoy longer shots!!!:inlove
