OK, here's my version of a body board float; i know there's been lots posted already, but the more the merrier, eh?

The main reason for going to a body board was to get my sandals and stuff out of the water, too much drag became annoying. The tupperware waterproof tub has reflective high vis tape on it and is bolted down thru the board. Otherwise, KISS applies for me!

I can carry the board the 300m to the sea from my house using the side elastics as shoulder straps.

The side elastics unclip to allow a gun to bea secured when swimming, e.g. with the camera.

I didnt want to spend a load on it, got the board for £15 from a surf shop (it had been used once!) and the flag was £2.70; eye-bolts + nuts were about 1.50 each.

If it doesnt do, then i'll just take all the bits off and go surfing :)

sweet man! i just want to say though, there is one problem with these floats. I built one because i thought it was the best idea ever - but be aware - they cause a ton of drag. Unless you find a way to keep the fish out of the water without risking them to the birds those dinners become parachutes that you have to drag around. its no fun.

thanks irtrogdor, in the past i have tried using an inflatable float and no float at all, compared to both, this one has much less drag (sandals and other bits are out of the water). I keep the fish on my belt stringer still.
I was quite pleased how visible it was - the flag does work a treat :)

the great thing about these things is you can adapt them for a number of situations
my preference is off shore for hauling catch &equiptment it proved invaluable one day
when hit suddenly with food poisoning and all i could do was lay on it and vomit .
got to be better than treading water!
