I was just checking the news about the floods/storms etc.. and seems wisconsin was hot pretty bad..hope everyone here is safe and sound..

The flooding is ALL around me. My field is flooded and I have some Leaking in the basement- but that is about it. We've gotten about 9.5" of rain in the last 2 days. A lake just north of me (Lake Delton) was wiped out. The Dam gave way and the lake completely drained. That lake is a big money maker for Wisconsin Dells.
No one got hurt- as far as I know except for maybe one fisherman- can't find him.

The lakes here in town accually looked prtty good so far. hope the heat dont hit though. While watching the video keep in mind that that is a new river! that was forest last time i was there!

I'm fine, house is on a hill, but I just found out that my 90 year old grandmother slipped and tore a muscle while trying to get the water out of her basement in Jefferson. We'll be visiting her at the hospital later on today.:crutch
It sounds like everything should be OK, and my mom is there to help her right now. She's an independent thing and doesn't like to ask anyone for help- gets mad if you think she can't do something.:martial
I'll be interested to here what Ted gets for lake measurements this week. It's been a record setting year around here in all kinds of ways.

We are O.K where we are at...But where I used to live the place got hit with 3" hail stones! Roof is trashed! And the driveway washed out too!
Glad I don't live there anymore...Here in Delavan we just got the "edge" of the storm, and even here it was wicked!
One good thing is I found the leak in my pool and fixed it right before the storm...Filled 'er right back up to the brim!

Probably messed up the vis in most lakes...But lately I have no time for freediving....Too much work and too many birthday and graduation parties!

Hey guys, we are fine up here in portage COUNTY, but my sister who lives in Milwaukee was flooded really bad. So many people were flooded down there that stores were closed and stuff. I cant tell you how familiar I am with the wet-dry vac now. roflThe best news was that the tiles underneath all the carpeting I ripped up had asbestos, so who knows, maybe one more visit to the ER is in range for me. Hope everyone else is doing good.
hey were the tiles underwater or were they wet if so you good to go but if not asbestos is a bad deal as i am trained in removal of that stuff and if it gets in your lungs there is no way to get it out and depending on how much you took in is how bad of deal it is
Didn't appear all that bad where i was. All those little bluegills were very busy digging little silt traps everywhere.

Usually its a bacteria warning after a big runoff. We just have to see hot it gets.
As far as access I was out all day yesterday fishing just be careful with your wake. If they invoke the no wake rule diving could possibly get a little better for a while.

Someone else went in and vacuumed out the rest of the basement, but it's still leaking in. I guess roads, bridges, and some businesses in Jefferson are still closed. I saw a LOT of swollen rivers on my drive down there, along with plenty of flooded parks.
The No Wake rule ROCKS!:inlove I wish they would make Monona No Wake all the time- let the jet ski's rip apart another lake and leave us that one for paddling in. Of course, if gas gets any more expensive there might be a self-imposed No Wake limit.:blackeye

Dusten - thanks for the info. Luckily my sisters basement was flooded, so I guess I am in the clear. ( I did wash my hands a couple of times though. :blackeye ) Jon, I'm sorry to hear about grandma, I know how that can be. My grandpa just had his second heart surgery, at the age of 88! He is a veteran of both WW II and the Korean wars, and Ill quote him from the first surgery "Never felt better." He was so weak he could barely say it. My thoughts are with you and your family. Hope she gets better soon.
yeah when i used to remove that stuff we would have a water sprayer there with us and you soak that suff then the asbestos cant fly or get into the air but make sure you have that stuff disposed of the right way call someone on it and ask cause it has to be taken somewere eles rather than the land fill so make sure you get ahold of someone i can look around and maybe get you some numbers if you dont and someone found out its a big BIG fine talking like 1,000 of dollars
Dotey, I passed the message on to my sister, and the thing is currently sitting outside the garage, VERY THOROUGHLY duct taped. Thanks for the info once again. And thanks for the concern everyone. Im mostly concerned about the people who were really negatively effected by the flooding. My mom used to live on mirror lake back in the 1950's, which is the lake right above delton, if Im not mistaken.
