I'm using olive oil as a replacement for silicon spray - for inserting feet into monofin. It works perfectly, and I presume it won't affect the monofin footpocket material.

if anyone reckons this is a big no no - then you gotta tell me please.

It depends totally on your monofin footpocket material. Some rubbers are very resistant to oils whereas some others deteriorate significantly when exposed to oils. Natural rubber for example has very poor oil resistance. If you're not sure about your footpockets' rubber type, I would recommend to avoid using oils as lube.

I have used standard wetsuit lube... Hair conditioner and water mixed.

It dilutes / dissipates quickly, once the fin is on.

are you using virgin olive oil or canola??I found my fins taste best with a nice extra virgin oil
